June 7-9 saw the Edward Picken Pro-Am hosted by the Washington Figure Skating Club, which included among its entrants one senior couple and a handful of junior and novice teams who competed at this year’s national championships. Reports on free dances (senior and novice, and junior) and the novice pattern dance were provided by Jun Y at FSU, though absent junior free dance scores.

Entrants included Danielle & Alexander Gamelin (Senior); Marcha Kiatrungrit & Bradley Lawrence, Lorraine McNamara & Quinn Carpenter, Rachel & Michael Parsons, and Eliana Pogrebinsky & Ross Gudis (Junior); and Gigi & Luca Becker, Eliana Gropman & Ian Somerville, and Gwen Sletten & Eliot Verburg (Novice).

Away from the competitive ice, a few American and Canadian dance teams were busy with this weekend’s DSC Summer Ice Show, featuring performances from a number of the top skaters training at the Detroit Skating Club. unimagine818 on YouTube captured these videos from the opening show on June 6:

Alexandra Aldridge & Daniel Eaton (USA), “L-O-V-E” + “Crazy in Love”

Kaitlyn Weaver & Andrew Poje (CAN), “Je Suis Malade”

Alexandra Paul & Mitch Islam (CAN), “In Your Eyes”

The official Facebook page of the DSC’s ice dance program, United Skates, LLC, also posted some comprehensive albums of the show’s last performance or two, with dedicated albums for Aldridge & Eaton and Paul & Islam as well as — of special note — the ice dancers’ group number to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”

Meanwhile, 2010 Olympic champions Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir reflected a bit on the meaning of the upcoming Sochi Olympics in a piece also covering the weekend’s new Tessa and Scott’s Golf Classic tournament supporting the Thames Valley Children’s Centre and Ilderton Skating Club: No looking back for Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir as they prepare for Olympics | London Free Press

And the roster for August’s Championnats québécois d’été 2013, last updated June 7, includes four entries in junior dance and three at the senior level, including Carolane Soucisse & Simon Tanguay, who placed 9th at junior at this year’s Nationals, and 7th-place senior finishers Elisabeth Paradis & François-Xavier Ouellette.
