Ice dancer Ian Lorello, who with Anastasia Olson finished eighth at this year’s U.S. Championships, officially announced his retirement from skating and the reasons behind it in a posting on Facebook. Olson and Lorello made their first international appearance this season with a seventh-place performance at October’s Autumn Classic International:

Prior to pairing with Olson, Lorello skated with Isabella Cannuscio for five seasons, reaching the Junior Grand Prix Final in 2009 after bronze at two events, including JGP Bosphorus Cup:

and winning silver at 2011’s Ice Challenge. Best wishes to Lorello as he pursues new paths!

Club show season continues this weekend with the Silver Blades Figure Skating Club show in Findlay, Ohio, featuring performances from former club member and junior pairs champion Matthew Blackmer with ice dancer Alexandra Aldridge, as well as dancers Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker and pair Gretchen Donlan and Nate Bartholomay.
