Skate Detroit, Lake Placid Offer Top Pairs & Dance Rosters

Skate Detroit, which opened Tuesday, will present a larger than average pairs roster and a first-time contest for ice dance. The rosters for senior, junior, and novice pairs is available on Unseen Skaters. Of particular note are the major competitive debuts of new teams Lindsay Davis & Rockne Brubaker, Becky Bereswill & Joshua Reagan, and the reunited Katherine Bobak & Matthew Penasse of Canada. The event also marks the season debuts for Canadian silver medalists and World fourth-place finishers Kirsten Moore-Towers & Dylan Moscovitch, World Junior gold and silver medalists Haven Denney & Brandon Frazier and Margaret Purdy & Michael Marinaro, and Canadian bronze medalists Paige Lawrence & Rudi Swiegers.

In ice dance, four teams have been suggested to compete, including the Detroit Skating Club’s own Madison Hubbell & Zach Donohue and Alexandra Aldridge & Daniel Eaton, but official participation of these teams or others remains unconfirmed.

All pairs short programs are scheduled for Thursday, and the junior and senior short dance for Friday. Both disciplines conclude with the free skates on Saturday.

The Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships, taking place from July 31 through August 3, offer a typically full entry list across all divisions. A complete group listing is available at the Lake Placid Skating website. Senior entries include Aldridge & Eaton, Canadian bronze medalists Nicole Orford & Thomas Williams, and U.S. fifth-place finishers Lynn Kriengkrairut & Logan Giulietti-Schmitt. The junior field will include Canadian champions Madeline Edwards & ZhaoKai Pang, Canadian novice champs Danielle Wu & Spencer Soo in their debut at junior, and the silver, bronze, and pewter medalists from this year’s U.S. Nationals — Kaitlin Hawayek & Jean-Luc Baker, Lorraine McNamara & Quinn Carpenter, and Holly Moore & Daniel Klaber.
