U.S. Entries to Nebelhorn; Thornhill and BC Results

The complete Nebelhorn Trophy roster has been released, with news that the U.S. entries in pairs and dance will be Lindsay Davis & Rockne Brubaker and Madison Hubbell & Zachary Donohue. While this will mark the first international competition for Arctic Edge’s Davis & Brubaker, it will be a return visit for Hubbell & Donohue, who won the competition in 2011 — in their own first international.

Thanks to streaming services, Skate Canada Central Ontario (Thornhill) Summer Skate and BC Super Series SummerSkate provided fans with the first widely available glimpses of new season programs from a few of Canada’s national team ice dancers, as well as a first look at several new junior teams. Alexandra Paul & Mitch Islam were the only competitors in the senior short dance at Thornhill, and placed ahead of Kharis Ralph & Asher Hill in the free dance. Mackenzie Bent & Garrett Mackeen placed first in both segments of the junior dance event (which saw the withdrawal of three teams), while 2012 National novice silver medalists Dylan Conway & Dustin Sherriff-Clayton were the sole entrants in junior pairs.

Archived recordings of most programs from the more crowded BC SummerSkate is located at the event’s UStream channel, including video of top dance finishers Nicole Orford & Thomas Williams (SD, FD) and juniors Madeline Edwards & ZhaoKai Pang (SD). 2013 National novice bronze medalists Taylor Leclaire & Christopher Mostert were the only competitors in the junior pairs event.
